New OLCC Compliance Bulletin: Artificially Derived CBN Products Must Meet FDA Standards by July 1, 2025
The OLCC has released Compliance Education Bulletin CE2025-05, announcing that starting July 1, 2025, hemp and marijuana products containing artificially derived CBN can no longer be sold in Oregon unless strict FDA standards are met.
Key Points:
-
CBN must meet GRAS or NDIN “no objections” from the FDA.
-
Products with “artificially derived cannabinoid” on the label must be pulled from shelves if not compliant.
-
OLCC licensees must return or dispose of affected inventory by July 1, 2025.
These changes will impact both OLCC licensees and general market hemp retailers. Most artificially derived CBN products currently on the market are not in compliance, and businesses must act now to avoid enforcement risks.
