Reminder: Board of Agriculture Meeting & Public Participation Opportunities starts this Tuesday

The Oregon State Board of Agriculture will hold its quarterly meeting December 17-19, 2024.  The meeting will be held in-person at the Best Western Plus, Agate Beach Inn in Newport, OR with the option to participate remotely.

This multi-day event will address key topics in agriculture, fisheries, and food processing, and provide opportunities for public engagement.

Meeting Schedule

Tuesday, December 17

• 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Board Meeting
  The draft agenda begins with a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Oregon Albacore, Crab, Salmon, and Trawl Commodity Commissions.
• 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Informal Reception
  Local agriculture, fishing, food processing industry members, community partners, officials, and the public are invited to connect with Board members and ODA staff.

Wednesday, December 18

• 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  Agenda highlights include:
  • ODA budget and legislative updates
  • Panel discussions on Agricultural Worker Overtime and Agri-Tourism and Land Use
  • Recommendations for the Oregon Agricultural Heritage Commission
    The day concludes with a site visit for Board members and ODA staff.

Thursday, December 19

• 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  Agenda highlights include:
  • Updates from OSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences
  • Insights from ODA’s Food Safety and Animal Health Programs
  • Discussion of Board resolutions under review for 2025
    The meeting concludes at noon.
